Summary of Business Sector Skills Research 2006.
“Consultation with employers reveals future skills needs”
The LSPA recently published its business skills research results. Over 200 employers and stakeholders in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight commented on the initial results. The survey highlights key challenges for businesses in the area.
Some of the issues identified were:-
Business services and tourism will be the key growth sectors for employment in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.- Nearly 20% of employers with skills gaps reported literacy and numeracy issues in the workplace.
- Over 18,000 new managerial jobs will be created in the next eight years.
- Three out of four employees in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight use computers in their day to day work.
- 23% of employers have identified skill gaps within their business.
