Employer Profile - Mark Merrit
Mark Merrit is the Managing Director of TBC (still awaiting confirmation by LSPA). Mark is a regular contributor to the LSPA.
How did you get involved in the LSPA?
I was initially asked if I would like to attend a meeting to see 'how it goes' and then to consider becoming an active member, as the existing marine representative was leaving. One year later and I am still very much involved!
What were your first impressions of the LSPA?
My first impressions of the LSPA were somewhat daunting, but by the end of the meeting I realised that I had become part of an impressive group of people who were looking to change the way business and government work together.
What are the benefits for employers when they join the LSPA?
For me the benefits of joining the LSPA soon became clear. These benefits include, networking opportunities, insight into how other people do business, as well as the opportunity to enable a wider marine presentation to be made. It also provides an excellent interface with government with a focus on meeting local priorities. It also allows for a frank exchange of views and ideas and enables earlier awareness of grant funded activities.
